Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed for possible publication. Determination of authorship is granted to those who have made a substantial contribuition to the work. All authors must disclose any confilct of interest prior to publication. Research articles must identify the IRB or ethics committee that approved the research, preferably in the methods section.
Any acknowledgements of funding or institutional support should accompany the Receipt of the Manuscript:
Once a manuscript is submitted to the journal the manuscript will be reviewed by the editor in chief and one of the section editors.
Peer Review: Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two peer reviewers who are chosen from our database. Reviewers are required (1) to keep the manuscript confidential; (2) not to make copies of the manuscript or share its content with others without the permission of the editor-in-chief; and (3) to apprise the editor-in-chief of any conflicts or biases that might affect their ability to objectively assess the manuscript. The review process for all manuscripts is "partially masked"—that is, a reviewer's identity is not revealed to the author or to other reviewers of the same manuscript.
First, a reviewer must reply to the invitation email that was sent by the editor. Then, the reviewer must log in as a reviewer to the IJNPE web site using their username and password.
The reviewer may download and save the manuscript to their computer. If, a reviewer decides to make specific changes to the manuscript, they should use the “track changes” function in Word. Once the manuscript has been received, an official review must be created. Also, the reviewer must make a recommendation regarding the publication of the manuscript:
• Accept submission: The manuscript should be accepted for publication by the IJNPE. Minimal revisions are required by the author to ensure that the manuscript is ready for publication.
• Revisions required: The manuscript should be accepted for publication by the IJNPE, but the author must first address several issues regarding its content and / or structure before it is ready for publication.
• Resubmit for review: The manuscript needs substantial revision of its content and / or its structure and the manuscript cannot be accepted for publication presently. However, because the manuscript shows promise, the author should revise the entry and then resubmit it to the IJNPE for consideration.
• Decline submission: The manuscript should not be accepted for publication. The manuscript’s purpose, content, and / or use of research are not appropriate for the IJNPE. The reviewers’ decision, along with copies of their reviews, will be forwarded to the author via email within 90 days. Often authors will be required to make edits sometimes extensive prior to publishing. It is our policy to try and make a publication decision after one revision. If an author is invited to resubmit a manuscript for review, we ask that the author resubmits their piece within 3 months. We also ask that they include the original version of the manuscript and the comments that were made regarding the revisions.
Since this is a free and open access journal it is the responsibility of the authors to make certain of typographical and data correctness prior to publishing the manuscript.
