Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement

Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement

Partnerships recognizes that successful engaged learning depends on effective partnerships between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines, and more. The articles in this peer-reviewed journal focus on how theories and practices can inform and improve such partnerships, connections, and collaborations. Studies co-authored by faculty, students, and/or community partners; or examining practices across disciplines or campuses; or exploring international networks, are all encouraged.

Suspension of Publication for Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement

We regret to announce that Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement, NC Campus Compact's peer-reviewed online journal, has ceased publication with the Spring 2020 issue. Since launching in 2009, Partnerships has contributed greatly to the higher education service-learning and community engagement field - nationally and internationally - by producing articles demonstrating how theories and practices can inform and improve partnerships, connections, and collaborations between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines, and more. However, after an in-depth review of NC Campus Compact programs and initiatives, by staff and the Advisory Council, it was determined that Partnerships funding would be redirected to promoting the scholarship of engagement in North Carolina through initiatives focused specifically on North Carolina colleges and universities.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to and supported the journal over the years, including Appalachian State University, who hosted the journal from 2009 to 2012 and UNC Greensboro who has hosted since 2012. We have to extend our heartfelt gratitude to former Executive Director, Dr. Lisa Keyne, and participants in teh Faculty Development Initiative who initially conceived of the journal in 2007 and brought it into fruition in 2009. Thank you also to Dr. Norman Clark, Appalachian State University, who served as the initial "Technical Director" to ensure Partnerships was fully online.

We are especially grateful to our three editors: Dr. Tracy Espy, Pfeiffer University (2009-11), Dr. Beth Warner, Elon University (who helped during the transition) and Dr. Spoma Jovanovic, UNC Greensboro (2012-present). Through her tireless effort and dedication, Dr. Jovanovic has played a vital role in keeping Partnerships strong and relevant over the years. We also appreciate all the graduate students who have served as Editorial Assistants working on the technical details of journal management and coordinating publication communication with authors.

Thank you to our reviewers, authors, and our outstanding Editorial Board:
 Stephen Bloch-Schulman, Elon University
Robert G. Bringle, Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis
Jessica Katz Jameson, North Carolina State University
